The beauty and functionality of a kitchen space doesn't have to be defined by its size. This home is a perfect example of how a kitchen with a smaller footprint can be redesigned into a space that is as gorgeous as it is functional.

By taking the cabinetry to the ceiling, we gained significant storage space that allowed us to be more intentional about building specific functionality into the layout. A tall pantry cabinet created a perfect home for a comfortable-height microwave; additional tray storage above the microwave and several roll-out trays below provide loads of storage for baking and canned goods.

The warm, dark stained cabinetry is accented by beautiful solid-surface counter tops and complimentary-toned tile that fills the wall space from counter to ceiling. These are all features that give the kitchen a comfortable, up-to-date feel.

Other features include a small island that is home to the cooktop and seating for two. Above the fridge, we built a space for a TV. A custom-built divider separates the nearby dining and living room space, while also providing great storage for keeping serving pieces close at hand.

The new design makes perfect use of a small space with a big heart!
